No cloud to trap the day's warmth tonight, with the surface near flat and pressure easing off. Start the search at No Good Lake along the first drop-off and weed lines. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. A raw day: short sessions and precise casts pay.

No Good Lake lies within the bounds of Copper River Census Area, Alaska. This is boreal forest ground. With some 81 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Roughly 2.0 miles of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Compared with other Alaska water on our list, it sits high. The closest town, Deltana, is 55 miles away. It is 185 miles to Anchorage, the nearest city. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name Arctic grayling, Chinook salmon, round whitefish and longnose sucker. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On No Good Lake a short move beats a long cast.
The year swings from about -1°F in January to roughly 52°F in July. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late May until roughly early October. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. The season on No Good Lake follows the weather closely.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lower Tangle Lake, 2.4 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on No Good Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
