Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a mirror surface most of the day and a rising glass. Miners Lake should fish best around the calm side of the wind today. The evening should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones.

The Chugach Census Area entry here is Miners Lake, in Alaska. The surface lies 397 feet up. It measures some 692 acres, and wind has room to build across it. With 6.0 miles or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. Valdez at 37 miles is the nearest place to stop. Anchorage is the closest city, 83 miles away. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth figures are not published for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Chugach Census Area cover Chum salmon, pink salmon, Pacific cod and walleye pollock. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Work Miners Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July to average close to 54°F, with January the cold end at about 20°F. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about early November in a typical year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Miners Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Kadin Lake sits 8.8 miles off and takes the overflow. Signs at Miners Lake carry more weight than any list.
