Open sky and sharp air tonight, with stillness over the whole water with pressure climbing. Fish at Terentiev Lake should hold close to the calm side of the wind. Save your energy for the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

This water sits in Chugach Census Area, Alaska. The ground around here is mixed forest. At some 757 acres it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. Around 6.8 miles of bank, which is a long day on foot. Start from Valdez, 27 miles down the road. Anchorage sits 93 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Chugach Census Area records list Chum salmon, pink salmon, Pacific cod and walleye pollock among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Fish Terentiev Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Temperature averages peak at 54°F in July and bottom out at 18°F in January. Hard water is a season in its own right here. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near early November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. It sets the rhythm of the year at Terentiev Lake.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Kadin Lake is 5.2 miles off. For Terentiev Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
