A wet system passing over today, with almost no wind to speak of with the barometer flat. Fish at Geal Loch should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. The best of it runs night into morning. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Geal Loch lies in Argyll and Bute, in Scotland. Height above sea level is 220 feet. It runs to roughly 27 acres — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Garelochhead sits 16 miles from here and is the nearest stop. Callander is 20 miles away, with Rhu at 20 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Public occurrence data for Argyll and Bute names brown trout, European eel and Atlantic salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. At Geal Loch light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Between January at about 2°C and July at about 13°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Temperature moves within a narrow band, and so does the fishing. Hard water here is never dependable, so check for yourself before stepping out. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Geal Loch runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The access position is unclear from public sources. A marina sits within half a mile of the water. Parking within half a mile means no long carry with tackle. There is a mapped landing stage half a mile away. You can camp about half a mile away, going by the mapping. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lochan Beinn Damhain is 1.8 miles off. Confirm access to Geal Loch locally before you travel.
