• Where to Fish on Betton Pool

Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Shropshire, recorded fish include brown trout, chub, Atlantic salmon and dace. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Betton Pool the first feature you find is usually worth a session.

• Seasonal Patterns

The seasonal spread runs 4°C to 16°C. Seasons here are moderate, and the fishing runs most of the year. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Time your trip to Betton Pool by conditions rather than dates. Long daylight spreads the feeding across more hours.

• Tackle & Baits

Our records carry no access rule either way. The closest car park is half a mile away, so pack accordingly. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Shomere Pool, 0.4 miles out. Where Betton Pool is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
