A closed sky with even light today, with next to no ripple and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Sheldon Lake will be around points where shallow meets deep. A stay-home graph, with the morning as the one excuse to go. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

You will find Sheldon Lake in Faro, Yukon. It sits in northern bush country. The water covers around 5.22 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. At about 14 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. Nearest place of any size is Whitehorse, 305 km away. Watson Lake is 318 km and Norman Wells 354 km. Close by you have: Field Lake near enough 3.5 km, Lewis Lake the better part of 9.2 km and Dragon Lake near enough 24 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Our records hold no depth for this water. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Faro include Chinook salmon and Arctic grayling. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Fish Sheldon Lake to its features, not to its size.
Between January at about -24°C and July at about 12°C, the water has a wide range to work through. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Winter locks it down, and mid May brings it back. The season between ice runs from about mid May to mid October. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Sheldon Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Field Lake, 3.5 km away. Treat Sheldon Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
