Dull, settled light over the water, with next to no ripple with the glass holding level. Lomond Lake should fish best around any hard bottom among the soft today. A grinding day likely, with the evening worth the effort if any is. Scale down and fish slowly. Cold air keeps the water sluggish; scale everything down.

Lomond Lake is one of the Dawson waters in Yukon. The ground around here is boreal forest. Around 79 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The full circuit measures close to 4.7 km on foot. It ranks high for size among our Dawson listings. The town to know is Dawson City, 102 km out. Tok follows at 284 km, then Deltana at 354 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records hold no depth for this water. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Dawson records list Arctic grayling, Chinook salmon and lake whitefish among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lomond Lake that means starting tight and working out.
Temperature averages peak at 11°C in July and bottom out at -25°C in January. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Winter locks it down, and early June brings it back. Climate averages put the opening at about early June and the closing near early October. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lomond Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Pistol Lake, 7.4 km away. For Lomond Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
