Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a proper ripple driven from the SE with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Snowfield Lakes should be near windblown banks where food collects. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

Saskatchewan holds Snowfield Lakes, in Timber Bay. The water sits 525 metres up. It runs to roughly 74 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Some 7.1 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Our Timber Bay list holds plenty of bigger water. Head to Prince Albert, 98 km away, for anything you forgot. Saskatoon sits 229 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Open biodiversity records for Timber Bay list northern pike, yellow perch and white sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Snowfield Lakes gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and early November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. It sets the rhythm of the year at Snowfield Lakes.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, MacDonnell Lake at 10 km is the nearest alternative. For Snowfield Lakes, the notice at the access point is the final word.
