Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a working SSE breeze with the barometer flat. Give the first drop-off and weed lines the first hour at Lac la Plonge. A grinding day likely, with the morning worth the effort if any is. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac la Plonge in the Beauval part of Saskatchewan. Elevation runs to 446 metres. The closest town, Buffalo Narrows, is 108 km distant. La Ronge follows at 130 km, then Meadow Lake at 132 km. Not far off: Dore Lake lies 41 km on, 49 km out stands Mogloair Bay, Keeley Lake lies 57 km on and 58 km out stands Canoe Lake. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Beauval include deepwater sculpin and fathead minnow. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Lac la Plonge a short move beats a long cast.
The seasonal spread runs -19°C to 16°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan around that when you fish Lac la Plonge.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A light spinning outfit with a small box of lures and some bait covers most of what swims here. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Dore Lake sits 41 km off and takes the overflow. Where Lac la Plonge is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
