Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a stiffish breeze from the SE with the glass holding level. Give the calm side of the wind the first hour at Hand Lake. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. A cold snap day, so work the warmest water you can find.

The Creighton end of Saskatchewan holds Hand Lake. This is pine and birch ground. It runs to roughly 45 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. About 2.4 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. It is a small entry by Creighton standards. Pelican Narrows at 53 km is the nearest place to stop. After that come Creighton at 77 km and Flin Flon at 79 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Creighton include northern pike, white sucker, johnny darter, yellow perch and cisco. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Hand Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -22°C in January. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about early November in an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Plan any trip to Hand Lake around it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Sarginson Lake sits 4.3 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Hand Lake before loading the car.
