Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with steady pressure of wind from the SSE with the barometer flat. Start the search at Clarine Lake along shallow cover and weed edges. A hard day on paper; the evening edges the rest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

In Saskatchewan, Clarine Lake falls inside Lakeland No. 521. Height above sea level is 515 metres. With some 75 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge runs 5.0 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. For a base, Prince Albert sits 53 km out. For a city, Saskatoon is 178 km off. It sits near the edge of the county, so check which rules apply.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Lakeland No. 521 include northern pike, yellow perch and white sucker. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. The near bank of Clarine Lake is often the one people ignore.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. From about late April to around early November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. It holds true on Clarine Lake more years than not.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Nora Lake at 2.9 km is the sensible second choice. For Clarine Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
