Chachukew Lake lies in Sandy Bay, in Saskatchewan. It lies 310 metres above sea level. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Saskatchewan listings. Start from Pelican Narrows, 9.5 km down the road. Creighton lies 88 km off, Flin Flon another 88 km. Within a short drive: Pelican Lake (13 km), Mirond Lake within 20 km, Wood Lake (20 km), Pixley Lake within 30 km and Wapumon Lake (35 km). The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Sandy Bay include northern pike, walleye and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Chachukew Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -22°C on the long-run figures. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about early November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. The season on Chachukew Lake follows the weather closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Pelican Lake at 13 km is the sensible second choice. For Chachukew Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
