Hard light and clear air over the water, with a whisper of wind from the N and no real change in pressure. Fish at Bear Lake should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. Block out the hours from morning through afternoon. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

You will find Bear Lake in Clayton No. 333, Saskatchewan. It sits in spruce and muskeg. The water covers around 2.31 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The edge covers about 23 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Preeceville lies 42 km from the water. For a city, Regina is 257 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish Bear Lake to its features, not to its size. Where reeds break, there is usually a route in for fish.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -19°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. The water is typically free of ice between late April and early November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Bear Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Batchelor Lake, 5.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Bear Lake in what we hold.
