A closed sky with even light today, with air barely moving and pressure sitting still. Fish at Agnew Bay should hold close to drains and drop-offs on the tide. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. A properly cold day, so expect slow, deliberate fishing.

Agnew Bay is one of the Creighton waters in Saskatchewan. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. This is big water, about 41.52 sq km, and in a wind it behaves like a small sea. Some 171 km of shoreline means conditions can differ from one end to the other. Few waters listed in Creighton are bigger. For supplies, Pelican Narrows is 49 km out. Then Creighton, 60 km, and Flin Flon, 62 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Oyster and old piling give the only hard structure in sight. Slack water is dead water on a place like this. Fish documented in Creighton include northern pike, white sucker, johnny darter and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Agnew Bay gives up more to patience than to distance.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -22°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around early November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. The season on Agnew Bay follows the weather closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Winteringham Lake at 7.7 km is the nearest alternative. What applies at Agnew Bay may have changed since it was mapped.
