Heavy overcast holding through the day, with stillness over the whole water and the barometer holding steady. Put the first casts for Pumpkinseed on the first drop-off and weed lines at Reservoir Lemieux. The strongest window runs from the day. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Night
Reservoir Lemieux lies within the bounds of Estrie, Quebec. It sits in rolling bush. At about 19 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Shoreline comes to about 1.9 km, small enough to learn in a day. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. The nearest place of any size is Granby, 3.5 km away. It is 62 km to Sherbrooke, the nearest city. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. Levels move with the draw rather than the rain on water like this. Records held for Estrie cover rainbow trout, white sucker, pumpkinseed, brook trout and rainbow smelt. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Reservoir Lemieux gives up more to patience than to distance.
In an average year July sits at 20°C and January at -10°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Averages place the thaw at mid April and the freeze at early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Anyone fishing Reservoir Lemieux regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. A car park lies 240 m away, so the walk in is short. Picnic facilities are recorded some 880 m out. Facilities include toilets around 80 m from here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Boivin, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Reservoir Lemieux is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
