Flat light and a covered sky today, with a gentle ripple from the S and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Petit lac Caribou around any hard bottom among the soft. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Petit lac Caribou is a Laurentides water, in Quebec. Height above sea level is 273 metres. It covers about 9 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Labelle at 2.1 km is the nearest place to stop. After that come Mont-Tremblant at 14 km and Lac-Simon at 16 km. Also on the doorstep: Lac a Foin lies 0.9 km on, Lac Nantel sits 1.2 km out, Petit lac Mitchell lies 1.5 km on, Lac Joly sits 1.8 km out and Lac Mitchell lies 2 km on. No border sits close enough to matter.
We hold no depth figure for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Petit lac Caribou light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -14°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. At Petit lac Caribou the season follows that pattern closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. A car park lies 340 m away, so the walk in is short. There is a campsite 1.4 km from the water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. For a change of water, Lac a Foin is 0.9 km distant. Treat access at Petit lac Caribou as something to verify.
