A rainy spell sitting over the area, with mild air moving in from the S and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Etoile around any hard bottom among the soft. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Etoile stands in Laurentides, Quebec. The ground round it is rolling bush. Roughly 18 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge runs 3.1 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Labelle sits 4.6 km from the bank. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne sits 98 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass among the fish reported. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The near bank of Lac Etoile is often the one people ignore.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -14°C at the bottom of winter. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Etoile runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. You can camp 1.2 km off, which suits an early start. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Lac Nantel, 1.3 km out. Confirm before you fish Lac Etoile.
