A grey, even sky over the water, with a light S breeze with a settled glass. The fish at Lac Yves are likely to sit near points where shallow meets deep. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Yves falls in Côte-Nord, part of Quebec. The bank is 593 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 2 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is a small entry by Côte-Nord standards. Saint-Honoré is the closest town at 103 km. The big place round here is Saguenay, 114 km distant. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Lac Yves the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 15°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid May. Open water usually runs from mid May until about early November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Lac Yves.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Lac Pierre is 0.8 km off. Treat Lac Yves as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
