Heavy overcast holding through the day, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Wanlin is the shallows early and the drop later. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Wanlin is an Outaouais water, Quebec side. Around the bank it is mixed forest. The water measures roughly 5 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. The town to know is Saint-Boniface, 80 km out. For a city, Gatineau is 194 km off. Close by you have: Lac Rougeac (0.7 km), Lac Diatomees after 1.1 km, Lac Ephemere (1.6 km), Lac Tentacule after 1.9 km and Lac Corail (1.9 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Anyone new to Lac Wanlin should walk it once before setting up.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -17°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about late November in an average year. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Time your trip to Lac Wanlin by conditions rather than dates.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Rougeac at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Wanlin may have changed since it was mapped.
