Dull, settled light over the water, with a persistent wind from the SSW and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Lac Viviane should be near the calm side of the wind. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, is where Lac Viviane sits. The setting is northern bush on every side. Around 13 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. With about 1.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Normandin sits 84 km from here and is the nearest stop. It is 199 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Read Lac Viviane for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. At Lac Viviane the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Lac Degre, 0.6 km out. Rules at Lac Viviane are worth checking on the day.
