Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the glass holding level. Lac Venus should fish best around the shaded margin through bright spells today. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Venus belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Height above sea level is 487 metres. Surface area is around 10 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. With about 1.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Leblanc is the closest town at 60 km. Beyond it, Weymontachie at 79 km and Normandin at 90 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Venus fishes better once you know its edges.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Venus runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is Lac de la Rencontre, 1.8 km out. Rules at Lac Venus are worth checking on the day.
