Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a faint S drift and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Lac Veho should be near structure within a cast of the bank. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, is where Lac Veho sits. It sits at 414 metres above sea level. At roughly 3 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. Chibougamau is the closest town at 89 km. Normandin follows at 94 km, then Albanel at 96 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Fish Lac Veho where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Seasonal averages run from -19°C in January up to 16°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. At Lac Veho the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Combe at 0.5 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Veho, the notice at the access point is the final word.
