A crisp, open sky after dark, with light air out of the SW and no real change in pressure. Lac Urdos should fish best around the weed line and any gaps in it today. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Urdos in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue part of Quebec. Spruce and muskeg runs right down to the water. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Most waters listed here for Abitibi-Témiscamingue are larger. Nearest town is Senneterre, 63 km off. After that come Val-d'Or at 83 km and Barraute at 87 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Urdos the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Time your trip to Lac Urdos by conditions rather than dates.
Public data does not answer the access question here. A camping area sits within 1.2 km of here. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Failing this one, try Lac Obton, 0.4 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Urdos in what we hold.
