Flat light and a covered sky today, with a firm SSW blow and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Uchon should hold close to the first drop-off and weed lines. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Uchon is a Laurentides water, in Quebec. Height above sea level is 532 metres. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Laurentides list holds plenty of bigger water. Rivière-Rouge lies 47 km from the water. Beyond it, Saint-Michel-des-Saints at 48 km and Manawan at 51 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Uchon fishes better once you know its edges.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -16°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. It holds true on Lac Uchon more years than not.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Lac Bare is 0.6 km off. For Lac Uchon in particular, ask before you travel.
