Solid cloud cover today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW with the barometer flat. The fish at Lac Tyr are likely to sit near reed fringes and open pockets. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

The Mauricie end of Quebec holds Lac Tyr. The bank is 398 metres above sea level. Small at around 2 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. For a base, Leblanc sits 102 km out. After that come Manawan at 115 km and Ferme-Neuve at 130 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout and walleye among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Tyr the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Lac Tyr fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Lac Eos at 0.6 km is the nearest alternative. The position on Lac Tyr is worth confirming on the day.
