Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a soft SSW wind with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Twin should centre on sheltered bays and points. Set the alarm around the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Out in Mauricie, Quebec, sits Lac Twin. Spruce and muskeg runs right down to the water. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Our Mauricie list holds plenty of bigger water. The nearest place of any size is Leblanc, 28 km away. Trois-Rivières sits 227 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout and walleye. The county list is broader than any single water. Anyone new to Lac Twin should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -17°C on the long-run figures. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. That is the shape of the year on Lac Twin.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac Madeleine is 1 km off. For Lac Twin in particular, ask before you travel.
