Rain colouring the margins today, with a light chop building from the SE with a settled glass. The productive water at Lac Travers will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Quebec holds Lac Travers, in Capitale-Nationale. The shore lies 29 km out. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. The closest town, Saint-Ubalde, is 7.7 km distant. Sainte-Thècle follows at 15 km, then Saint-Tite at 22 km. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Lac Travers that means starting tight and working out.
Long-term averages put July at about 19°C and January near -14°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Expect Lac Travers to follow that timing.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac a la Barbotte sits 0.5 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Lac Travers should be assumed from this page alone.
