An even grey lid over the water, with calm air over the water and steady pressure. The water to cover at Lac Tie is reed fringes and open pockets. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Outaouais, Quebec, is where Lac Tie sits. This is lake country bush ground. With some 14 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 1.6 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. For supplies, Saint-Raphaël is 40 km out. Gatineau sits 117 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter among the fish reported. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac Tie light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. That is the shape of the year on Lac Tie.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Rondeau, 1.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Tie carry more weight than any list.
