A rainy spell sitting over the area, with dead-still conditions and no real change in pressure. Give the weed line and any gaps in it the first hour at Lac Tache. A stay-home graph, with the morning as the one excuse to go. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean end of Quebec holds Lac Tache. The water sits 638 metres up. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Head to Saint-Honoré, 49 km away, for anything you forgot. Then Saint-Ambroise, 54 km, and Labrecque, 55 km. Others close at hand: 0.5 km away is Lac Godin, Lac du Poing 0.8 km away, 1.1 km away is Lac Frappe-a-Bord, Lac de la Meute 1.2 km away and 1.4 km away is Lac de la Morsure. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Lac Tache for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Seasonal averages run from -19°C in January up to 16°C in July. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Lac Tache follows the weather closely.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Godin sits 0.5 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Lac Tache may have changed since it was mapped.
