A closed sky with even light today, with a mirror surface most of the day and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac Stubbs along windblown banks where food collects. The forecast is against you; the evening is the least bad option. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Stubbs is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. The bank is 790 metres above sea level. At roughly 3 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list holds plenty of bigger water. The closest town, Saint-Honoré, is 40 km away. Saint-Fulgence lies 45 km off, Saint-Ambroise another 48 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Stubbs for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Climate records put July near 15°C and January near -19°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about mid May. From about mid May to around early November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. The season on Lac Stubbs follows the weather closely.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac du Pied sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Stubbs for certain.
