A grey, even sky over the water, with flat calm through the day and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Stadacona will be around any hard bottom among the soft. The morning is where the day comes good. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

The Mauricie end of Quebec holds Lac Stadacona. This is mixed forest country. The water measures roughly 8 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Laurentides lies 35 km from the water. The big place round here is La Cité-Limoilou, 102 km distant. Close by you also have: Lac des Deux Bras a touch under 1 km, Lac Noron sits 1 km out, Lac Mantry a touch under 1.6 km, Lac Jayac sits 1.7 km out and Lac Pygmalion a touch under 2.1 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Mauricie: northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Fish Lac Stadacona where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -16°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. It holds true on Lac Stadacona more years than not.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. A jetty or pier is mapped about 1.3 km from here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac des Deux Bras at 1 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Stadacona are worth checking on the day.
