Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with steady pressure of wind from the S and steady pressure. On Lac Spoon, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Spoon is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. It stands 463 metres above sea level. It covers about 6 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. For a base, La Tuque sits 53 km out. Métabetchouan follows at 68 km, then Laurentides at 73 km. Near neighbours: Lac en Biseau lies 0.4 km on, Petit lac Cache 0.6 km, Lac de la Fronde lies 0.6 km on, Lac Carotte 0.6 km and Lac Kid lies 0.9 km on. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker among the fish reported. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Spoon the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Spoon runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac en Biseau, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Spoon may have changed since it was mapped.
