A grey, even sky over the water, with a soft SSW wind and pressure sitting still. Activity on Lac Solo should centre on the shallows early and the drop later. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Quebec, Lac Solo falls inside Outaouais. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. Roughly 13 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. With about 2.6 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Head to Maniwaki, 21 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Saint-Raphaël (22 km) and Saint-Boniface (24 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Solo gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Solo.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Flo at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. Treat access at Lac Solo as something to verify.
