Steady rain over the water today, with a mirror surface most of the day and pressure sitting still. Fish at Lac Skitawabo should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. The morning carries the best of the day. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Skitawabo in the Mauricie part of Quebec. The water sits 398 metres up. It measures about 16 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Bank access stretches around 2.7 km in total. The town to know is Laurentides, 38 km out. Further out sit La Tuque (38 km) and Saint-Raymond (73 km). There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Fish Lac Skitawabo to its features, not to its size.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Anyone fishing Lac Skitawabo regularly works to that calendar.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Petit lac Skitawabo, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac Skitawabo if anything is unclear.
