Rain colouring the margins today, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Sissou will be around structure within a cast of the bank. Block out the hours from night into morning. Slow down and let the fish find the bait. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Capitale-Nationale, Lac Sissou is a Quebec water. The bank is 389 metres above sea level. At roughly 8 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Head to Laurentides, 7.9 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Saint-Raymond (36 km) and Sainte-Thècle (40 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Records held for Capitale-Nationale cover lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The shape of Lac Sissou decides where the fish sit.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -15°C for January. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Sissou.
We hold no note on access for this one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Pennee sits 0.8 km off and takes the overflow. Check the current arrangement for Lac Sissou.
