Rain on and off through the day, with air barely moving and pressure sitting still. On Lac Proulx, work the shallows early and the drop later first. Everything points to the morning. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Proulx in the Capitale-Nationale part of Quebec. The surface lies 359 metres up. Small at around 6 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Nearest place of any size is Laurentides, 7.5 km away. Saint-Raymond lies 36 km off, Sainte-Thècle another 38 km. Others within reach: Lac Tessier roughly 0.8 km, Lac Talbot the better part of 0.9 km, Lac Pennee roughly 0.9 km, Lac Pelletier the better part of 1.1 km and Lac Sissou roughly 1.7 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Proulx responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -15°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. The season on Lac Proulx rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. For a change of water, Lac Tessier is 0.8 km distant. For Lac Proulx, the notice at the access point is the final word.
