Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with flat calm through the day and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Simis around the weed line and any gaps in it. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Mauricie, Quebec, is where Lac Simis sits. It lies 495 metres above sea level. Small at around 8 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. The closest town, Leblanc, is 38 km distant. The big place round here is Trois-Rivières, 251 km distant. Not far off: Lac des Coloris after 1.1 km, Lac du Renne at 1.8 km, Lac du Nigaud after 3 km, Lac Beaudoin at 3.1 km and Lac Argaut after 3.2 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Fish Lac Simis where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -17°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. The season on Lac Simis follows the weather closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac des Coloris sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Simis in particular, ask before you travel.
