Overcast skies today, with a mirror surface most of the day and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Sellar should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Sellar falls in Outaouais, part of Quebec. The surface lies 248 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Wakefield is the closest place, 25 km off. Constance Bay is 28 km away, with Shawville at 32 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Work Lac Sellar in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Climate records put July near 19°C and January near -13°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near early December in autumn. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Sellar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac a Hughes sits 1.2 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Lac Sellar before loading the car.
