A grey, even sky over the water, with a light WSW breeze and pressure sitting still. The fish at Lac Savane are likely to sit near reed fringes and open pockets. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Quebec holds Lac Savane, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. What surrounds it is northern bush. It runs to roughly 13 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Roughly 2.0 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Start from Saint-Fulgence, 46 km down the road. Saint-Honoré is 52 km and La Baie 54 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Savane for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Expect July near 15°C and January near -19°C on the long-run figures. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Count the season from break-up, usually mid May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid May and starts locking again about early November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. It holds true on Lac Savane more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Petit lac du Caribou at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Ask locally about Lac Savane if anything is unclear.
