Dull, settled light over the water, with an easy breeze from the SSW and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac du Tamis is reed fringes and open pockets. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Lac du Tamis lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It stands 719 metres above sea level. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Saint-Fulgence at 47 km is the nearest place to stop. Saint-Honoré lies 54 km off, La Baie another 56 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Read Lac du Tamis before you fish it and the day goes better.
The warm month here averages 15°C; the cold one sits at -19°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid usually goes in mid May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Climate figures give an open season running mid May to early November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Lac du Tamis fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Palourde is 0.7 km off. Ask locally about Lac du Tamis if anything is unclear.
