No direct sun expected today, with mild air moving in from the SSE with a settled glass. Expect most activity at Lac Savane around windblown banks where food collects. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Savane sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, out in Quebec. Northern bush runs right down to the water. The water measures roughly 4 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. Labrecque lies 17 km from the water. L'Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur lies 23 km off, Saint-Ambroise another 27 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Take Lac Savane a stretch at a time.
Averages move between -18°C in January and 17°C in July. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. The season on Lac Savane rarely departs from it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac des Habitants sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow.
