A grey, even sky over the water, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Saucisse should centre on the seam between weed and open water. The forecast is against you; the evening is the least bad option. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Saucisse is a Côte-Nord water, in Quebec. The setting is boreal forest. At roughly 5 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Our Côte-Nord list holds plenty of bigger water. Baie-Comeau sits 9.3 km from here and is the nearest stop. For a city, Saguenay is 231 km off. Also within reach: Lac Baloney at 0.3 km, Lac Castelnau roughly 2.7 km, Lac Leon at 2.8 km, Lac Croche roughly 3.1 km and Lac de la Riviere aux Anglais at 3.4 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Lac Saucisse the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Lac Saucisse fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. For boats, Association Récréative du Lac Malfait lies 1.2 km out. A carry of 1 km from the nearest parking is the price of fishing here. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Baloney sits 0.3 km off and takes the overflow. Where Lac Saucisse is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
