A grey, even sky over the water, with a faint S drift and steady pressure. Whatever swims in Lac Sarrola should be near sheltered bays and points. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

In Quebec, Lac Sarrola falls inside Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Height above sea level is 402 metres. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Chibougamau at 89 km is the nearest place to stop. After that come Normandin at 98 km and Albanel at 101 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Sarrola repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -19°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. On Lac Sarrola the same rules apply, with local timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Lac des Spectres is 0.8 km off.
