Solid cloud cover today, with next to no ripple and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac Sar is reed fringes and open pockets. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Sar sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, out in Quebec. Land around it is boreal forest. It measures about 16 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Bank access stretches around 3.1 km in total. For a base, Val-d'Or sits 63 km out. After that come Senneterre at 80 km and Malartic at 84 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. At Lac Sar the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The seasonal spread runs -16°C to 17°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Anyone fishing Lac Sar regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Fetiche, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Sar is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
