Wet weather working through today, with mild air moving in from the SW and the barometer holding steady. Expect most activity at Lac Ryan around the calm side of the wind. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Outaouais, Quebec, is where Lac Ryan sits. The ground around here is rolling bush. The water measures roughly 8 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. The closest town, Deep River, is 25 km away. Beyond it, Chalk River at 34 km and Petawawa at 49 km. Also on the doorstep: 1.9 km out stands Lac Cole, Lac Bertrand a touch under 2.5 km, 2.7 km out stands Lac Frost, Lac Pitt a touch under 2.9 km and 3.3 km out stands Lac Collin. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Anyone new to Lac Ryan should walk it once before setting up.
The range across the year is -14°C to 18°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Ryan runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Failing this one, try Lac Cole, 1.9 km away. Confirm before you fish Lac Ryan.
