A closed sky with even light today, with a proper ripple driven from the NW and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Lac Rouge is structure within a cast of the bank. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac Rouge in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It lies 494 metres above sea level. With some 16 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. A shoreline of some 1.8 km keeps the choices simple. Forestville lies 58 km from the water. After that come Betsiamites at 78 km and Les Escoumins at 82 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Open biodiversity records for Côte-Nord list logperch. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. On Lac Rouge that means starting tight and working out.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. On Lac Rouge the same rules apply, with local timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Deuxieme lac Rouge, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Rouge in particular, ask before you travel.
