The Côte-Nord end of Quebec holds Lac du Toboggan. It sits in northern bush country. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Côte-Nord list holds plenty of bigger water. The closest town, Forestville, is 58 km away. Betsiamites follows at 77 km, then Les Escoumins at 84 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. At Lac du Toboggan the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. At Lac du Toboggan the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Lac du Micmac, 1.1 km out. For Lac du Toboggan, the notice at the access point is the final word.
