Heavy overcast holding through the day, with light air out of the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Lac Rose should fish best around reed fringes and open pockets today. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Rose is a Mauricie water, in Quebec. It sits at 493 metres above sea level. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The full circuit measures close to 2.5 km on foot. Head to Leblanc, 23 km away, for anything you forgot. It is 231 km to Trois-Rivières, the nearest city. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Rose the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -17°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. At Lac Rose the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Lac Metivier is 0.8 km off. For Lac Rose in particular, ask before you travel.
