Solid cloud cover today, with an easy breeze from the WNW with the barometer flat. Lac Knight should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Out in Mauricie, Quebec, sits Lac Knight. It lies 490 metres above sea level. About 7 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. The town to know is Leblanc, 22 km out. For a city, Trois-Rivières is 231 km off. Others within reach: Lac Louise some 1.4 km off, Lac Averett a touch under 2 km, Lac la Loutre some 2.2 km off, Lac Eddy a touch under 2.6 km and Lac Eloise some 3 km off. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Knight that means starting tight and working out.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Anyone fishing Lac Knight regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Lac Louise at 1.4 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Lac Knight before loading the car.
