Heavy overcast holding through the day, with an easy breeze from the WSW with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Rond should hold close to reed fringes and open pockets. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Rond in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. It stands 745 metres above sea level. Small even by pond standards, it rewards one careful line. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. Saint-Fulgence lies 28 km from the water. For a city, Saguenay is 41 km off. Close by you also have: Lac Francois sits 1 km out, Lac aux Foins about 1.4 km, Lac Poelon sits 1.9 km out, Lac Vatcher about 1.9 km and Lac Boivin sits 2 km out. This one is safely inside the county line.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Lac Rond that means starting tight and working out.
Expect July near 15°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid usually goes in mid May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The open-water window runs from around mid May to about early November in an average year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Rond fishes to that pattern most years.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. If the gate is shut, Lac Francois at 1 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac Rond should be assumed from this page alone.
